A Riad in Marrakech
When you travel alone, the first thing that you want to plan is where you sleep. Am I right? The thing is that personally, I like to be adventurous. I also want to have a comfortable stay. Let me tell you that I got the best of both worlds at my stay in Marrakech at Sirocco d’Amour.
Let me explain. I chose to stay in a riad in the heart of the medina. The problem is that it’s hard to find yourself in the medina. Even with Google Maps! 😅 I absolutely wanted to find the place by myself and so, I took a taxi, ask more than a dozen people to find my way.
As soon as I entered, I immediately felt the contrast between the chaos of the outside and the zen atmosphere inside. The simple decoration has set the tone for my stay: peaceful and relaxed. It also inspired me to look for artisans.
When I arrived, I was welcomed by Abdelhi & Fatima, the hosts. I quickly got attached to Fatima, as if it was a second mother. Besides, she took care to welcome me with tea and pastries. If some people don’t eat it all, I, in the oppsite, devoured everything! 😋
As you can see, it feels like home here!
The lovely Fatima 💕
What to do near the riad:
- The Bouchraouite Museum! I recommend it sincerely, it’s 2 minutes from the riad! The museum is an old house (a riad) where you can discover and learn the subtleties of the Bouchraouite and Zindekh rugs.
- The Spice Square! This is where you can make nice discoveries. This is also where you can eat at the popular NOMAD restaurant or admire the view of the city at the Café des épices.
- A little further, say 12 minutes walk (if you don’t get lost) you will discover the Maison de la Photographie. This museum makes you travel in the past through old photos. Take some time to stop at the gift shop, you can buy postcards of old photos, a perfect souvenir of your trip!📍Sirocco d’Amour
